Canada Day!

While I may not be living in my "home and native land", "more's the pity says I on occasion, I'm there in spirit on this, Canada's official birthday.

Formerly known as Dominion Day, Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of July 1st 1867 when the British North America Act united two British colonies and one province into a single country. I think the colonies were Ontario and Quebec, once known as Upper and Lower Canada. Not sure which province was involved though.

I can't be bothered to check my facts here, so if I'm wrong, please post a comment to correct me.

Anyhow, Happy Birthday Canada! Have a good one folks.

  3. Thanks FQ. Halloween Spirit, you may be right. Some of the natives round here still think it passes for wit to call us "colonials". Idiots wouldn't know funny if a piano fell out of the sky and landed on them. Now THAT'S funny!
