It's not the dark we're afraid of, it's what we think
might be lurking in it that frightens us.

September!

There are flowers enough
in the summertime,
More flowers than I can remember

But none with the purple, gold, and red
That dyes the flowers of September!

Back to school, back to work and a new Season arriving with the Autumnal Equinox on the 22nd of September. In medieval Europe, harvest festivals started later this month and the greatest of them was Michaelmas, on the 29th. Everyone feasted on Michaelmas goose, oatcakes, barley cakes, and new wine. For all you skywatchers, look for the rising Full Moon on the 4th.

Weather lore: Fair on September first, fair for the month.

Happy September!

  3. I caught the very nearly full moon last night dancing in and out of the clouds, not likely to see her tonight though I'm afraid. September is a lovely month isn't - though I'm probably prejudiced as it's my birth month:)
